This is the world that would be if the internet was matter instead of data. The megacorporations rule in their own little realms. The Administration keeps the rest of society intact. Below them are the average folk, everymen, who go about their business and try to make it in the world. Below them are the flotsam, the scum of society, the people who trawl the dark underbelly of life. The world is made of a thousand different factions and clades, all jostling together whether in conflict or coexistance.
Brandon was a courier down on his luck, until he stumbled across an Outsider host. He can see through to the Outside now, see the things bleeding over the borders of reality: the only problem is that the Outside looks back and they are not particularily friendly neighbors.
Nix is a scum girl on a mission: there are nine very specific people she needs to kill. The Instructor claims to be beyond the Administration, claims that it’s for the good of the world, and she’s taken that message to heart. First the rapist, then the slaver and so on. The targets keep getting higher profile, the consequences keep getting bigger, and Nix has to deal with being the one chosen, and manipulated, to murder in the name of the Instructor.
